What Your Body Lacks When You Feel Like Eating Certain Food

food desires

Sometimes we feel an irresistible desire to eat a certain food. Why does this happen? Is it only your imagination or a real need that your body wants to tell you about? In most cases the body “knows” when it lacks something important and gives these signals to the brain which transforms them into your desires to eat something special. Let’s find out what exactly such signals may mean.

If you feel like eating chocolate…

Your body might lack magnesium, a deficiency that happens to 1 in 4 people. You can compensate it with nuts, avocado, bananas or yogurt. A strong magnesium deficiency may lead to some serious consequences such as diabetes, osteoporosis or asthma.

If you feel like eating bread and pastry…

You might lack nitrogen. Eat more protein such as meat, fish, beans or nuts. When you lack nitrogen it may affect your skin, you can start suffering from edema or lose some muscle mass.

If you feel like eating fatty foods…

Usually that means there is not enough calcium in your body. Include more broccoli, cheese, dairy products and beans into your daily menu. Be careful with calcium supplements – some of them may turn out unsuitable for you and even harm your health.

If you feel like eating lemons…

It is an obvious sign of a vitamin C deficiency. This may mean that your immune system is weakened or that you have already caught a cold. Lemons and other citrus fruits contain a lot of vitamin C – so, feel free to indulge yourself in them.

If you feel like eating everything you see…

You lack silicon, tryptophan and tyrosine. We recommend eating sunflower seeds, nuts, liver, cheese, spinach, sweet potatoes, raisins and lamb. You may also try green, yellow or red fruits and vegetables. Too strong an appetite before menstruation can be a signal of zinc deficiency which may be compensated by seafood, lettuce, red meat and various root vegetables.

If you don’t feel like eating at all…

Your body lacks vitamin B1, which one can find in nuts, liver, seeds or beans, vitamin B2 (halibut, tuna, beef, chicken, turkey and pork) or manganese contained in blueberries, walnuts and almonds.
