Vinegar-Based "German" Coleslaw

- Cabbage 1 head
- Carrots 4
- Red onion 2
- Bacon bits ¼ cup
- White vinegar ½ cup
- Vegetable oil ½ cup
- Sugar ⅓ cup
- Salt 1½ tsp

Instructions
- In a large bowl mix shredded cabbage, chopped carrots, onions and bacon bits.
- In a small bowl, combine the remaining ingredients.
- Pour the dressing over the cabbage mixture and toss to combine.
- Serve chilled.

Tropical “Hawaiian” Coleslaw

- Coleslaw mix 1 bag
- Mayonnaise 1¼ cups
- Crushed pineapple (drained) 1 can
- Mandarin oranges (drained) 1 can
- Salt ¼ tsp
- Black pepper ¼ tsp

- In a large bowl, toss together all ingredients until well mixed and evenly coated.

- Buttermilk 2½ tbsp
- Lemon juice 1½ tbsp
- White vinegar 1½ tbsp
- Sugar 2 tbsp
- Salt ½ tsp
- Black pepper ¼ tsp

Instructions
- Grate cabbage and carrot, chop onion.
- Place the ingredients in a large bowl, toss and set aside.
- In a medium bowl, combine mayonnaise, fresh lemon juice, buttermilk, white vinegar, and sugar.
- Whisk until smooth and creamy.
- Pour the dressing over the cabbage mixture, stir in salt and pepper, and toss to combine well.
- Cover and chill for several hours or overnight before serving.
