Vinegar-Based "German" Coleslaw
Ingredients
  1. Cabbage 1 head
  2. Carrots 4
  3. Red onion 2
  4. Bacon bits ¼ cup
  5. White vinegar ½ cup
  6. Vegetable oil ½ cup
  7. Sugar ⅓ cup
  8. Salt 1½ tsp

Instructions
  1. In a large bowl mix shredded cabbage, chopped carrots, onions and bacon bits.
  2. In a small bowl, combine the remaining ingredients.
  3. Pour the dressing over the cabbage mixture and toss to combine.
  4. Serve chilled.

Tropical “Hawaiian” Coleslaw
Ingredients
  1. Coleslaw mix 1 bag
  2. Mayonnaise 1¼ cups
  3. Crushed pineapple (drained) 1 can
  4. Mandarin oranges (drained) 1 can
  5. Salt ¼ tsp
  6. Black pepper ¼ tsp

Instructions
  1. In a large bowl, toss together all ingredients until well mixed and evenly coated.
  2. Cover and chill for at least 1 hour, then mix again before serving.

Creamy “Southern” Coleslaw
Ingredients
  1. Cabbage ½ head
  2. Carrot 1
  3. Onion ¼
  4. Mayonnaise ½ cup
  5. Buttermilk 2½ tbsp
  6. Lemon juice 1½ tbsp
  7. White vinegar 1½ tbsp
  8. Sugar 2 tbsp
  9. Salt ½ tsp
  10. Black pepper ¼ tsp

Instructions
  1. Grate cabbage and carrot, chop onion.
  2. Place the ingredients in a large bowl, toss and set aside.
  3. In a medium bowl, combine mayonnaise, fresh lemon juice, buttermilk, white vinegar, and sugar.
  4. Whisk until smooth and creamy.
  5. Pour the dressing over the cabbage mixture, stir in salt and pepper, and toss to combine well.
  6. Cover and chill for several hours or overnight before serving.
