French Toast Recipes – 4 New Recipes

To have a good weekend you need to start it properly, i.e. with a French toast. But which one? This question is not as ridiculous as it may seem, since even such a simple dish as French toast has lots of various recipes. So, maybe it’s time we try some new, different French toasts?

Basic French Toast
Ingredients
  1. Bread 4 slices
  2. Egg 1
  3. Milk ¼ cup
  4. Vanilla extract 1 tsp
  5. Cinnamon (ground) ½ tsp

Instructions
  1. Mix and whisk egg and cinnamon. Add vanilla extract and beat the mixture.
  2. Pour in milk and stir well.
  3. Dip bread slices in the mixture all over and let the bread get a bit soaked.
  4. Heat a nonstick skillet on medium-high heat, and fry the toasts for 1-2 minutes on each side. Bread slices should turn golden brown.

French Toasts With Buttermilk
Ingredients
  1. Challah bread slices 6
  2. Buttermilk ⅔ cup
  3. Eggs 2
  4. Sugar 1 ½ tbsp
  5. Salt ⅛ tsp
  6. Unsalted butter 2 ½ tbsp

Instructions
  1. Shake buttermilk well. Mix and beat eggs and sugar. Add buttermilk and salt, and whisk well.
  2. Put challah slices into the mixture and soak them for 10-15 minutes, until they absorb it all.
  3. Heat a nonstick skillet with butter and lay the bread onto the skillet. Use a slotted spatula for that in order not to let the slices fall apart. Cook the toasts for 3 minutes, then turn and cook for 3 minutes more. Serve warm.

French Toast With Berries
Ingredients
  1. Bread 8 slices
  2. Eggs 4
  3. Milk ⅓ cup
  4. Water 2 tbsp
  5. Light cream ⅓ cup
  6. Caster sugar ½ cup
  7. Cinnamon (ground) 1 tsp
  8. Butter (chopped) 2 tbsp
  9. Vanilla yoghurt 1 cup
  10. Frozen mixed berries 1 ½ cup

Instructions
  1. Pour water into a small saucepan, add ¼ cup sugar and heat it over low heat, constantly stirring. When the sugar dissolves, turn heat to high and let the syrup boil. Cook it for 3-4 minutes. When the syrup thickens a bit, take the saucepan off from heat, add berries and stir.
  2. Whisk together eggs, cream and milk in a bowl.
  3. Mix together ¼ cup sugar and cinnamon on a plate.
  4. Heat a nonstick skillet with butter over medium-high heat. Dip the bread slices one by one into the mixture and let them get soaked a bit.
  5. Cook the toasts for 2 minutes, then turn and cook for 2 minutes more. Coat each toast with sugar and cinnamon mixture.
  6. Put the berries on each slice and serve toasts with yoghurt.

Tropical French Toast
Ingredients
  1. Bread 8 slices
  2. Butter 3 tbsp
  3. Eggs 2
  4. Brown sugar ¼ cup
  5. Coconut milk ½ cup
  6. Pineapple ½
  7. Cinnamon (ground) ¼ tsp
  8. Maple syrup (to serve)

Instructions
  1. Peel, core and slice the pineapple, and sprinkle each slice with 1 tbsp of sugar.
  2. Heat a large nonstick skillet with 1 ½ tbsp of butter over medium-high heat. Fry the pineapple slices for 1-2 minutes each side, then put them onto a plate. Set aside.
  3. Beat the eggs with coconut milk, cinnamon and the rest of sugar.
  4. Put the remaining butter into the skillet and melt it. Dip the bread slices into the mixture one by one and cook them for 2 minutes, then turn them over and cook for 2 minutes more. Toasts should turn golden brown. Transfer toasts to a plate.
  5. Put a slice of pineapple on each toast. Serve the toasts with maple syrup.
